a new year, a new decision

happy new year?!!! (yes it’s February!) it’s been a while since I blogged and I just wanted to share some pictures that didn’t get blogged in november & december. so it’s one huge picture post!

on another note………. I’ve been trying to gather my thoughts about what I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve read blogs of which mirrored my life, being a mom, having a photography business, and trying to balance life.
the past couple months I have been trying to get my house organized, especially my office and all of my family pictures. and I would find myself so happy and so grateful that I have those pictures of my kids when they were little. I haven’t really captured my kids like I used to the last couple years. I’ve lost my balance.
with that being said, I also am so blessed in my life. I have so many good things. I want to do everything AND be so good at it.
but the key to life is balancing, and I totally stink at this part. something has to give.
I need to put photography on hold….for a little while at least.
I want to be able to take tons of pics of my kids like I used to… and blog about them…so I can look back with no regret knowing that I chose to focus on the best little creatures in my life.
I want to catch up on my kids’ photo books and videos and projects that I have started but never finished. I haven’t replaced any pictures in my house since 2009. my kids’ rooms still have bare walls!!

the most important thing in my life is my family. I love them all to pieces. and they are growing up faster than I ever even imagined. I don’t want to look back some day and be sad that I chose the good things instead of the best things.
but they will not always be clinging to me…… and that’s all I want right now. with that comes lots of bad days, good days, frustrating days, and amazingly wonderful days. cleaning house every day, doing laundry, stepping on random toys in the hallway, making lunches, wiping noses, cleaning throw up, doing homework. I want it all because it means I’m a mother. and I love being a mother.

I’ve been reading alot of good talks, quotes, blogs and watching these videos lately. I love seeing what other people are doing in their lives and how they balance life, church, work, family, school, friends, and motherhood. It’s inspiring.

I want to do better at balancing. especially with this new year, I’m ready to change lots of things and be better at many more things. I feel like I’m off to a good start. I need to CHOOSE what I can really handle right now and do it really well. Then I can take on the rest later.

my kids need me, my husband need me, and I need them.
the sessions that are already booked for this year will still remain. I’ll always have a passion for photography. and I can always pick it back up when I’m ready:) and knowing me, I’m sure this “break” won’t be long since I’ll be itching to get back behind the camera:)

trista + trey {married}

what an amazing wedding. another wonderful time in mexico and everything was perfect. trista and trey were married on 11.11.11. it was magical. they are so darling together and had a definite spark between them. I love capturing the “first look” moments and highly recommend any couple that’s getting married to do so. It’s so intimate and just beautiful to capture those few minutes of them together before the ceremony. all of the family and close friends were there. the weather was perfect and we all danced the night away watching the sunset. I can’t thank you guys enough for letting me come and take apart of this chapter in your life. It was so much fun:) there are many more pictures that I could have posted, but here are just a few. congrats you guys!!!

I am trying to blog some of the families I did in November, so let’s start with this family!!
what a fun family. I instantly clicked with this family…. probably because we live with the chaos of having children!! HA! and I’ve only got 3!! so fun to get to hang out with the coolest families! I love my job. thanks for a fun time you guys!! taking pictures of your youngest baby girl didn’t help me stop thinking about having more kids at the moment!!

what a wild couple of weeks it’s been over here…. got back from mexico! had a blast:) came home to my computer crashing and talking to apple support for 4 days straight on my NEW computer. turns out it was my new external hard drive that was messing everything up. needless to say, it set me back a week or so on my work. I’m back and ready to roll….
this family had an idea in mind and I loved it. I just kinda sat on the sidelines and captured this moment for them. I think I took a few hundred of this session. F.U.N. thank you for waiting patiently for your sneak! hope everyone enjoys THANKSGIVING!!! I’m so thankful for so many things in my life right now…enjoy your turkey day:)

It’s so fun to see all of these beautiful people that are graduating this year! along with making me feel older and older, I love capturing their personalities. I would describe Chelsea as sweet, full of life and with a little bit of spunk! and a beautiful young girl:) thanks to her boyfriend and her sweet mom for making her laugh and letting me see a side of her that I wouldn’t have otherwise! congrats Chelsea and good luck in your future!!

Caleb comes from a super cool family that I just love. he brought his 2 adorable brothers along for the ride so we got some shots of this handsome clan. AND it was the first time in the history of my business that I HAD to bring my children with me. never.ever.again. I totally appreciate the help I got from Caleb’s wonderful momma! and of course his brothers, but I will hopefully never have to do that again! let’s just say that all 3 of my kids came home covered in mud. but they loved it, so what’s a mom supposed to do when they’re just having fun? congrats Caleb on finishing many years of school!! here’s to the next chapter in your life when you will realize that school is not yet over! thank you guys for a fun and eventful time:)

super cute family! what adorable kids that were so “cheesy” in front of the camera! even baby girl was all smiles all of the time! I think my yellow chair will be getting a lot of use this season:) It looks great with anything!! I even went home afterwards and decided that for our family pictures we are wearing purple and gray! thanks for a fun time you guys! you were a real treat to photograph. hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend and has a HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I’m such a sucker for haunted houses! hopefully I can get out and enjoy some scary time with the hubs!

YES! I’m here, and I’m sure you’ve heard it all before…. IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR! that time where I always have my camera in my hand capturing the most wonderful people, doing homework and reading books with my kids, stepping over loads of laundry needing to be folded, thousands of pictures to sort through, and remembering that it’s ok to feed my kids ramen for dinner. AND the most recent distraction of my life… THE TEXAS RANGERS IN THE WORLD SERIES. so I will TRY to blog full posts of my sessions, but for now, here’s a few I’ve been editing….

I just got back from a session tonight and after putting my kids in bed and cleaning the kitchen…. I’m a little exhausted. carina!!!! love this girl!!! she used to babysit my kids a few years ago before we moved south:( I CANNOT believe she’s a SENIOR!!! she has blossomed into a beautiful young lady and I feel so honored to have taken her pictures. I would like to send a shout out to carina’s “best friend” Josh for making her laugh the entire time and jumping in on some pics:) I think he needs to be my assistant. had a BLAST! especially with carina’s mom who I just ADORE. thank you guys!! enjoy!
